About

Many photographers rather stand behind the camera than in front of it. Probably the reason they became photographers in the first place. However, taking the photography business to the next level, there is no escaping the spotlights.

To satisfy the curious minds who want to know a little more, this page sheds some light on the "when, why and how" of the images, the website and the photographer behind it.

the Images

Like most artists, Ilse Valkoog spent the first years of artistic calling mastering technique and discovering her signature style. Starting with color images of just about any subject, she gradually turned her attention to black & white photography of more specific themes. Her eye for detail and tension was there from the beginning.

Over the years her style developed into the images featured on this website. Realistic sometimes to the point of abstract or graphic, pure and sometimes with an edge of drama.

When asked about her motives, her vision behind her work, Ilse replies "With my photography I aim to share that, with the right light and composition, an image of something as simple as a butterfly on a branch can be quite compelling. Basically, in my work I express the beauty of simplicity. Minimalism in images, if you will".
