the Dead Sea
Swimming, or rather floating, in this salt lake for the first time was the funniest thing, words cannot descibe. Its surface lies at 1,378 feet below sea level, the lowest point on earth. Locals call the Dead Sea 'Sea of Lot'. The mountains bordering the lake hold the salt pillar which Lot's wife turned into, after turning to see God's destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as punishment for the cities' immorality.
