the Oval Plaza
This spacious plaza measures 98 by 87 yards and is surrounded by a broad sidewalk and a colonnade of first century Ionic columns. Restoration of the Jerash ruins began in 1925. The results are admirable and sometimes unexpected. Like when I found a piece of a façade as a paving stone.
