Avebury, UK
It was off-season when I arrived at Avebury, one of Europe's finest and largest Neolithic monuments. Parking was now free and there weren't too many visitors. Nonetheless I decided to skip the stone circle and take a field trip to "Windmill Hill", which turned out to be a long walk to an (although historically important) uninspiring early Neolithic settlement. But not before I visited this quiet St. James' church.
