Grand Canyon
Photographed here at day break is the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The dramatic mountain silhouette and sky, the soft blue morning light, depicts the deafening stillness of that very moment. It also shows what characterizes the Grand Canyon, its enormous size and excellent display of layered rock. It formed during the Grand Canyon's extensive geologic history, representing over 2 billion years of sedimentation, mountain building and erosion.
