Death Valley

Going by the sinister name 'Death Valley', this area east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range has certainly lived up to its reputation geologically. In addition to being the lowest spot in North America, its harsh desert climate makes Death Valley the hottest and driest of the national parks in the United States. It has by far the most diversified landscape I have yet encountered. The picture shown here was taken at Zabriskie Point, again, early in the morning. These sandy hills with their delicate soft slopes represent the much deserved name "Golden Canyon".
