Fruit of the Sea
West of Ardgroom lies a long spit of land called Cus, which shelters the busy working pier "Pallas Pier". The bay is much given to mussel fishery by the rather intensive method of suspension - or rope - mussel cultivation. Mussels are suspended in the water column on ropes attached to barrels, and take about 18 months to mature. With Coomacloghane and Tooth Mountain in the background, this image depicts such a mussel bank.
