Smooth as Glass
Day slipped into night, and with subsiding of the wind this cove of the Beara peninsula became a haven of tranquility. A sheltered inlet amidst the splendid setting of the wild and majestic Caha Mountains, it is favored by the mild Gulf Stream climate which gives moist winters and a year round growing season. The flora and fauna of the area are among the most interesting in Ireland. It is estimated that approximately one quarter of all rare Irish plants are to be found here.
